Schneider TM is a multidimensional music project of Dirk Dresselhaus, named after his nickname Schneider. It oscillates extensively between adventurous electronic pop music and experimental, sometimes improvised music. Between 1989 until 1997, Dirk played and sang in adventurous independent pop bands like Hip Young Things and Locust Fudge (both on Glitterhouse Records) before mainly focussing on electronic music. While that time, Schneider TM was responsible for experimental electro-freak-pop albums on City Slang / Mute and underground hits like "Reality Check" and "Frogtoise". Or a cover version of a Smiths song called "The Light 3000". The collaborative effort with Kptmichigan was celebrated by John Peel at the time and recently resurfaced in the soundtrack of Adam Curtis' documentary series "Can't Get You Out of My Head".
Schneider TM has been credited as one of the main innovators of the genre called Indietronic or Indietronica. Dirk has been moving Schneider TM in the direction of instantly composed free-form music, employing varying instruments including guitar, electronics, balafon, effect loops as well as field recordings.
But after releasing his new album "The 8 Of Space" via Editions Mego last spring and a reissue of the entire Schneider TM back catalogue being imminent via Schneider's own MirrorWorldMusic platform, Dirk now returns to the song format and pop music for the first time in about 15 years.
